AI is in its infancy but is the biggest technological advancement since THE internet, in my opinion.
Nothing has shaken up the world quite like AI.
It’s been around since the 50’s but advancements in technology, especially the rise of machine learning algorithms, have contributed to the massive popularity in AI in 2023.
People are scared AI is going to take over and leave their job obsolete. Should you be afraid? Am I afraid?
First off, I believe that anyone who uses AI as an excuse to be lazy and just churn out content should be afraid. I wouldn’t want anyone working for me who is always looking for the next shortcut or the next hack.
Don’t get me wrong, working smart and efficiently is VERY important.
Here is what I am talking about…
THOUGHT PROCESS: Oh, I need an article to post on my blog… “Hey ChatGPT, can you write me an article on Dog Obedience that is 3,000 characters in limit”… and then ChatGPT spits out an article which you then promptly post right to your website. PATHETIC.
You might find that harsh, but while that person’s printer is working fine, the rest of their business is burning down around them.
All ChatGPT did was level the playing field… you can find yourself at bat much quicker, but you still need to work hard and study your tail off to set yourself apart.
Seriously, imagine this. You and 100 million other people are doing the same exact thing, did things really change? What I am saying is that the people who know how to actually write can evaluate the final product of something much more easier.
Compare it to hiring an auto mechanic. I personally get nervous going to one because I know exactly NOTHING about what is under a hood. I can barely change a tire (I’m so serious).
Therefore, I can’t evaluate the work except by the fact that my car can either drive or not. Same thing with copy, if I don’t know what I am looking for, I don’t know what I am looking for.
If you value hard work and the process, you are in good company. But you are rare, let me also say that.
I use AI as a TOOL, and nothing else. It is a tool just like the dictionary, just like the internet, just like any other tool out there used to make you a more efficient human being.
But it takes a human to use a tool.
And it takes a competent professional to use that tool at max effectiveness.
They actually have a name for an effectively trained ChatGPT/AI user, called a “Prompt Engineer”.
And what does the fact that a competent human is required mean for you and others like you?
It means there is NO competition. All you have to do is look around you at the millions buried in their phone, not present, not focused, distraction less than 3 seconds (gold fish territory), stealing money from their employer or from their own business. NO. COMPETITION.
The Focused, the Present, those who value Hard Work (and the results it brings) will always be valued wherever they go.
AI is a disruptor and many people will use AI to make their business more effective in less time while others…
… will sadly use it as an excuse to run to the hills with their tail between their legs.
Those who believe in accountability are on the offense.
A famous general named Sun Tzu once said “Know thy enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated”.
Think about it… this is a valuable lesson, whether you look at AI as an ally or the enemy. You can switch your perspective, it’s not too late.
So, to future proof your business or employment, follow this simple 3 Step Action Plan:
- Immerse yourself in the world of AI and start using it HEAVILY; start to weaponize your AI toolbelt and then go on the offensive! (TODAY)
- Read a stack of the Classic Copywriting books because selling is not so much about text on the page, but the EMOTION it stirs in your prospects and causes them to trust you enough to pull out their wallet and buy (and that’s a HUGE ask).. And how would you ever be able to judge ChatGPT’s copywriting skills if you don’t know what successful persuasive copy even looks like in the first place?
- Be OBSESSED with learning (CANI aka Constant & Never Ending Improvement because technology is changing daily and you need the edge over your competitors)
